Garmin 520 Test Ride on Kingwood Trails
Today’s ride was a combination recovery ride and a test of the replacement Garmin Edge 520 I received yesterday. I think I accomplished both. With the heavy bike, slow speeds, stout wind (SSE @ 18 mph , 28 mph gusts at the airport) my legs spun out out all of the soreness from the Liberty Freedom Ride yesterday. After programming the 520 the test ride went perfectly. I have plenty experience programming the 520 with all of the problems I have had. I was expecting to receive just the 520 head unit but got a full retail box with the mounts and other stuff.
I waited to start riding today because I watched the Paris – Robaiux race replay on NBCSports Live leaving home at 2:35. The weather was pleasant with the 80 degrees and mostly cloudy sky. Even riding on the trails with all of the trees I could feel the string wind and when I rode out on the streets it was really strong. Pedaling the 32# MTB added to the effort. My home weather station doesn’t record the wind because of the houses. The weather when I finished (4:11).
I continue to make progress on my 772 mile goal for April. I am up to 281 miles. A recap of where I stand after today. (click on the image to enlarge it)
The two gray days are when I did not use the Edge 520 and uploaded the rides into Garmin Connect.
Tomorrow there is a good chance of rain so I may not bike.
