Area second-graders learn the importance of wearing helmets

Reed Arena was filled with the sounds of singing and the sight of more than 3,500 children dancing on Thursday morning as part of the eighth annual “Hard Hats for Little Heads,” an educational program that emphasizes the importance of wearing helmets in sports.
Second-graders from Bryan, College Station, Navasota, Brenham, Anderson-Shiro, Mumford, Snook, Hearne, Burton and Caldwell gathered in the stadium to learn about why helmets should be worn and how to properly secure a helmet before participating in mobile activities. …

Upper valley residents weary of $1.5 million River Bend expansion project

EL PASO, Texas – Upper Valley residents are expressing concerns about a $1.5 million road project.
It’s happening on River Bend Drive and it spans more than a mile from Frontera Road to Sunset Road. It’s another case of growth and expansion that is not sitting well with some of the homeowners. …
