Preserve proves popular with mountain bikers

The Spring area has become a haven for cyclists with mountain bikers heading in droves to the 100 Acre Wood Preserve, located at Texas 249 at Jones Road, to take advantage of the hills, ravines and dips provided in the green space along Cypress Creek.
The preserve has two miles of trails through rolling, forested terrain, which connect with the 9-mile Cypress Creek Mountain Bike trail system in northwest Harris County.

Mayor Sylvester Turner released the draft of the Houston Bike Plan on Thursday, unveiling the city’s efforts to make Houston a more bicycle-friendly city. If fully implemented, the plan will triple the existing bikeway miles and provide six times more high comfort bikeways miles than what exists now.

Citizens calling on Austin City Council for bike lane changes

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin neighbors rallied Saturday, calling on city council members to add dedicated bike lanes after a middle school student was hit while riding his bike.
After 11-year-old Charlie, a middle school student at Murchison Middle School was hit by a car at the intersection of Mesa Drive and Far West Boulevard, Charlie’s parents, loved ones and neighbors gathered to implore law makers for change.
