MTB Riding in the Woods
It’s been 6 days since my last ride. During this lapse the weather has been wet and then cold (for southeast Texas at least). today the clouds came back after the latest cool front passed through and the temperature got up to 68. I rolled out the Motobecane 700HT MTB to ride the Kingwood greenbelt trails. School is out for Thanksgiving and I came across several groups of children on the greenbelt. Before that I stopped to take these pictures of the fall look on the trails.
The top two photos show the trail in the woods and the bottom two show the North Woodland Hills pool and playground. Needless to say the pool is not open.
I am getting very close to my 6500 mile goal for the year. With today’s 16.92 miles I am up to 6450 miles.
Riding the MTB requires a lot of effort with it weighing 32 pounds. That is almost twice what my road bike weighs. That accounts for the slow average speed of 11.8 mph. I did get up to 12.0 mph for a short time but the slight inclines did me in. This is the 11th time I rode my MTB this year.
The weather looks favorable for biking tomorrow. I may switch back to my road bike.
