In Car-Addicted Dallas, A New Bridge Is Actually Good For Bikers
www.fastcoexist.com
You might scoff, depending on where you live, but in a city ranked twice as the worst biking city in the country, a separated bike lane is a huge deal.
Drivers in Dallas spend around 45 hours a year stuck in gridlock. But despite painfully long commutes from the suburbs, few are tempted to try giving up their cars. That may slowly start to change: As part of a massive new transit project, a new bridge will finally make it easier to bike into the city.

Dallas bike lanes moving forward, but not the way everyone wants
By BRANDON FORMBY, Transportation Writer      www.dallasnews.com

Cycling Space City      cyclingspacecity.blogspot.com
I first heard about cyclocross back in the Eighties when I rode with a high school friend who was far more advanced in bike riding than me. I honestly couldn’t get his enthusiasm for taking your road bike and pounding it through the forest. But now I get the appeal in particular in a place like Houston where we ride miles and miles of flat roads. The switch to going over a course that changes from pavement, to grass, to sand, to running over barriers sounds like fun. And now there is easy access to specialized bikes just for cyclocross. What …
