A Freelance Route Bike Ride
All I wanted to ride today was enough miles to get over 200 for the week. I rolled out the driveway at 12:10 with the weather hot and the sky almost a clear blue. The wind was a hot light breeze which meant no relief from the hot. I had several potential routes in mind but I couldn’t choose one so I wound my way through Elm Grove Village (Kingwood) and into Sherwood Trails Village (Kingwood) and turned where I did. Finally I got to a point where I had to make a choice and rode through Woodbridge Forest and out to Loop 494. I been on all the roads and streets in today’s route but I don’t think I ever put them together in this particular way. I named the route “Valley Ranch – Oakhurst – Forest Cove” because these are subdivisions along the way. I reached my goal riding 24.33 miles which put my week at 212.53 miles. July is now at 511.1 miles against my goal of 834.
I don’t ride through Forest Cove very often because it doesn’t have many exits and the San Jacinto River borders to the south. Before US59 was widened I rode there more. The streets and traffic are good amongst the large homes on large lots with lots of trees. I enjoyed the shade today.
With the late start the weather got ahead of me. These two weather screenshots are after I got home at 1:53.
This is good preparation for the Hotter’n Hell Hundred in August. I also wanted to ride a light day because I biked 6 days this week plus I haven’t watched stage 15 of the Tour yet. More hot and dry weather tomorrow and the rest of the week. I should get an earlier start tomorrow (Monday) with a Tour rest day and no TV.
