Biking To The Goal
I didn’t bike yesterday. We spent the day at the Houston Medical Center and then got caught in traffic on the way when the Astros game ended. I traveled on what is usually a good shortcut around traffic but not when a ballgame is over just before we got there. To help make up for missing yesterday I rode the “Stroker Road – Huffman” route logging 39.8 miles. This raises the week’s mileage to 161.82 miles (year to date is 2394 miles). I am making progress to the 968 mile goal for June (same as June 2014).
Tomorrow I intend to ride the Splindletop Spin in Beaumont. This will be the second time biking there. Last year the route was 51.24 miles and the I don’t think the route has changed. This will put me over 200 miles for the week and June. I will drive to Beaumont early in the morning since it is only 70 miles.
Average speed today improved over the last few rides. The maximum average speed was 15.6 mph and ended up at 15.3 mph for the whole ride. Wind was light and didn’t hinder my speed much today. Many sections I rode at or near 19 to 20 mph. No other bikers spotted today.
Weather during the ride:
With today’s ride this is the 6th time biking this route in 2015. A comparison of the rides: (click on the image to enlarge it)
