There is no age, altitude limit for cyclists

It takes a special kind of cyclist to enjoy pedaling for a week through Colorado’s high country, with each day’s ride being 60-100 miles over routes that include long leg-burning climbs up steep mountain roads.
Lynette Havens, a longtime friend and former faculty colleague at Aims College in Greeley, Colorado, is one of those special cyclists.
She’s the perfect role model for anyone who wants to challenge themselves with a lofty cycling goal and then work hard to accomplish that goal while overcoming any obstacles that might arise.

Wolfforth to almost Shallowater: A head start
Thursday September 25, 2014, 10 miles (16 km) – Total so far: 10 miles (16 km)
This is, once again, a section of my cross USA bike ride, picking up where I last left off near Lubbock. In this case, the plan was to ride from Lubbock to Comanche, OK, but I overestimated what I was in condition for, so a middle section was cut out and left to be completed on another trip. So, I here have Lubbock to Plainview. I will then write up the Childress to Comanche section, and next year go back and complete the Plainview to Childress section and write it up. Got that?
Also, this is, once again, a solo supported trip, meaning my wife is along with the car and we meet at beginning and ends, and we have cell phones, but she does not follow along. We stay in motels.
We drove from Dallas to Lubbock on 9/25. Actually, we stayed at the same motel in Wolfforth, just to the southwest of Lubbock, that the last west Texas section left…
