Made It to 6004
This ride got an earlier start than usual. I left home at 10:03. Before leaving I was wondering the temperature was going to warm up but it warmed up nicely once the sun was above the trees. The sky was littered with scattered clouds and a ENE wind at 9 mph. As I was warming up in Sherwood Trails I passed another biker which is very unusual there. I exited Kingwood on Mills Branch Drive and Ford Drive when I changed the route after I started. Normally this route does not have much traffic but today it was busy but the cars passed me with plenty of room.
I was able to ride at a good pace and built up my average speed sooner than usual. The long uninterrupted stretches of road helps. Three times I had it up to 16.3 mph. I stopped at Stripes on FM1314 and as I pulled in my average speed was 16.3 and as I coasted to the front of the store it dropped to 16.2 mph. I stayed at Stripes for about 25 minutes. Leaving I was able to get my average back up to 16.3 and kept it there until 31 miles into the 35.25 mile long ride. Once I get into Kingwood the streets quickly slow me down and the average speed drops. It ended up at 15.9 mph.
My year to date miles increased to 6004. This leave 496 miles to reach my goal of 6500. If the weather continues to hold up I could surpass that. So far I biked 164.21 miles this week and 473.17 miles this month.
The “New Caney – Gene Campbell Road” route is the second most frequent one I ride. In the ride comparison table below are all of the rides this year. Next year the Grand Parkway construction is supposed to wind down at Community Drive. This will widen my route selection going north.
Tomorrow I will not be able to ride due to a church meeting. The weather will be nice for many days.
