Bike patrol officer gets ride stolen downtown

Police catch suspect after short, wild chase
SAN ANTONIO – A bike patrol officer found out what it’s like to be a crime victim Friday night when a suspect leaped on his police bike and took off.
The officer was on duty downtown around 9:30 p.m. when the suspect swiped his bike.
The officer called dispatch to say he’d just been ripped off, and he could see the suspect riding away headed north from Commerce and St. Mary’s.
