Palestine to Host Gravel Grinder Cycling Event

Palestine, Texas – Palestine will host its first gravel grinder cycling event on Sat.,Oct. 4. The Camino205 is a long distance adventure ride through the Piney Woods of East Texas.
According to Dave Morrow, organizer for the Camino205, “Cyclists in the upper Midwest have been putting on gravel grinder events for about 10 years. One of the most notable being the Dirty Kanza, which traverses the Flint Hills National Grasslands in Kansas and has over 1,200 riders.â€

Oryx cycling tour ‘elevates’ to become premier event at Fort Bliss, organizers say

FORT BLISS >> The Oryx Challenge Bike Tour keeps getting bigger and better, organizers and participants say.
On Sunday morning, 500 cyclists participated in the fourth annual Oryx, a noncompetitive bike ride that raises money for local USO programs. That’s about 100 more cyclists than last year, organizers said.
The bike ride started and ended at the Freedom Crossing shopping center on West Fort Bliss. In the past, the USO center on East Fort Bliss served as the tour’s headquarters.
