Richardson cycling group begins initiative to improve bike parking in the city
By HEATHER NOEL, Neighborsgo      www.dallasnews.com
Each morning, Richardson resident Mark Adams hops on his bike to make the trek to work — about a 4-mile trip.
As a developer for a software company, he said the 10-20 minute spurt of exercise provides a refreshing jumpstart to the day, before he sits at a desk for hours.
“Biking kind of provides that time for me to focus in and organize my day and be able to think about what’s going on without having to be frustrated because I’m sitting in traffic on [U.S. Highway] 75 for an hour,†Adams said.
The city of Richardson has made efforts in the last six or seven years to weave together a network of routes for bicyclists to travel around the city, with more than 40 miles of trails and…

Getting better about posting these sooner after the rides. We rode Brushy Creek a week ago and despite the heat, we had a good time with only a few incidents.
We’ll probably try to get up here…

Pilot program has Northeast Austin students biking to school
Quita Culpepper, KVUE
AUSTIN — In May, hundreds in Northeast Austin celebrated the opening of a new pedestrian bridge that allows kids to safely walk to Bernice Hart Elementary.
That bridge is one reason the Austin School District cut the number of school buses servicing Hart from 10 to just one.
A new pilot program is helping kids in…
32nd Annual Austin Moonlight Cruise SAT NIGHT, September 7th, 1:45am
Bicycle Austin
It’s just about September, the weather is cooling (a bit, anyways), the full moon is coming, and you know what that means … it’s time to cruise in the 32nd Annual Austin Moonlight Cruise Bike Ride!
If you only make one bike ride this year … make this one! (But really, if you only make one bike ride a year — you should try to get out more. But I digress …)
This is the best ride of the year, bar none! This is the ride where you want to bring your tall bike, your freak bike, wear a costume, etc. There’s typically hundreds of riders of all different abilities, and the route is fixed, so don’t worry about not being able to keep up — now matter how fast you are, there will…

From the Back of the Pace Line…Fake it ‘til you make it
Back in the fall of 2013 I was attempting to do something I’d never been good at…running. I didn’t like running and I physically couldn’t run further than the stop sign at the end of my street. Bottom line, I was a horrible runner, but it was something that a lot of my friends were involved in. All of those mud runs were popping up and it just seemed like I needed to jump on that wagon. I tried running in the gym and even downloaded a couple of apps that were supposed to help you run a 5k in 9 weeks. I never made it past week 4 of the training, but I did become a decent elliptical runner at the gym. I signed up for a couple of mud runs and completed an…
