More than 100 people participated in the 6th Annual Rock Bike Race hosted by Rock Fitness Center. Bikers gathered on the side of the road in the brushy area near La Bota Ranch promptly at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, and took one of two routes: a 30 mile route or a 50 mile route.The starting line began at Las Tiendas Road and the finish line was at Muller Elementary School.

Houston Ghost Bike group honors fallen unicyclist with memorial

A man who was known in the Houston area as the “naked unicyclist†for his past nude unicycling exploits was struck and killed late one night in early August while riding down a dark La Porte road. His death didn’t go unnoticed as a memorial has sprung up in his honor near where he fell.

Where: Meet at Tobin Park on Loop 410 eastbound frontage Rd between Harry Wurzbach Rd and Starcrest Rd.
When: Aug 31, 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Description: Meet at Tobin Park for a trail ride southbound on paved bike trails along the Salado Creek Greenway. This ride will continue past Fort Sam to Lions Park, then return to Tobin Park for 28 miles. There is an option of returning from Fort Sam, then ride the entire trail northbound before returning to Tobin Park for about 20 miles. Ride Leader, Corrie, 917-991-9241. Guests are welcome.
Directions: On Loop 410, take the Harry Wurzbach exit (#24).
From the west, traveling east, exit Harry Wurzbach Rd, go past Harry Wurzbach, staying on the frontage road until you get to the park just past the bridge.
