I biked to the north on the “SR242 – Old Houston Road – FM1314” route. The weather was pleasant with partly cloudy sky, 86 degrees at the start (10:14) with a ENE wind at 9 mph. Humidity was 76% dropping to 60% when I got back home at 1:45. The temperature was 91 which has been several days getting back up to this level. I saw one other biker on FM1314 west of Old Houston Road.

Traffic was good and I didn’t have any problems. I stopped twice. Once at FM1485 and SR242 and then Stripes on FM1314.

This route was 42.99 miles long and I averaged 16.1 mph. The nice thing about this route is the long sections without stops. This allows me to get up to speed and stay there. There are a few rolling sections on SR242 but the rest of the route is usually flat. On FM1314 I was riding into the wind so I had to increase the effort. My legs did much better today not bogging down like yesterday.

On FM1314 the Grand Parkway right away clearing has moved to the west of the road. The number of trucks hauling dirt away from the construction site north of Valley Ranch is high. Usually after the stop at Stripes I exit onto Valley Ranch Parkway to go across FM1314 and onto Briar Tree. The traffic is now so much that it takes several traffic light cycles to get across. I now exit Stripes on FM1314 and then approach the traffic light on FM1314 and turn right on Old Sorters Road.

My Stradalli bike continues to impress me. I am still riding the Prologo Scratch saddle that came with the bike. I checked the tires while I stopped at Stripes and didn’t find any potential flat things. The rear Gatorskin has 2343 miles and is showing a flat tread surface. I hope to get another 1700 miles from this one.
