Those are the words of Trish Jones, who last November participated in Ride Texas, a 500-mile cycling event across Texas. This year’s event will begin in Wichita Falls on Nov. 5 and conclude in Corpus Christi on Veterans Day.

A local college student is embarking on a cross-country cycling trip.
Cyclist Nosh Vincent is a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at the University of Texas at Dallas. He and his brothers are cycling across the country to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities.

A teenage bicyclist was transported to a Lufkin hospital early Sunday morning following a hit-and-run accident in the 500 block of South Timberland Drive.
Cameron Davis, 17, suffered head injuries and some road rash but was conscious at the scene of the accident after being struck by a pickup truck around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to Lufkin Police Lt. Mike Shurley, who said he otherwise did not know the man’s condition.

A New City Trail

Had a change of pace for today’s ride. Maggie suggested we check out the South Walnut Creek Trail. It’s a brand new trail the city has just completed on the east side of Austin.
The trail is about 15 miles long, and it’s concrete all the way. On this quiet Sunday morning, the trailhead at Govalle (Go-valley) Park had only a few cars in the parking lot.
