Details
We are going to mountain bike at McAllister park. We will ride about11 miles. We are doing the trails immediately around and inside the park. It should be about1.5 to 2hours of riding.
Our pace will be about 8 to 12 mph.
Here is the usual message:
There are smooth parts and rocky parts and any part that makes you uncomfortable you can walk though it. Make sure you have water, sun block, and wear a helmet. When we ride we will have some rest stops along the way to let everyone catch their breath.
The meetup location is the first parking lot on the left after…
Felt Like Old Times
by Bike Noob
Judy, one of our club’s A riders, has been bothered by knee pains lately, so when she posted that she would like to do a slower-paced ride instead of the usual A riders’ sufferfest, I was interested.
She wanted to go at about a 14-15 mph pace, out to the gas station in Kyle, about 23 miles to the south. The main A ride had left at 7:30, and when we showed up for the 8:15 ride, we found about seven others who wanted to take the ride.
It started out briskly, with a run down the four-lane divided Slaughter Lane. At this hour, traffic was light. We turned onto Brodie, and I saw that instead of the 14-15 mph average Judy had…
HBC Chappell Hill North Ride
Houston Bicycle Club
Sat 08/02/14
Distances: 35(B), 46(C), 55(C) miles
One of the prettier rides for wildflowers in the spring, it’s also a very nice fall ride. The short route heads north on FM 1155 for about 7.5 miles to the stop sign at FM 2193 then heads east on FM 1155 another 12 miles to Washington on the Brazos State Park. There are bathroom facilities and water/soft drinks available at the park. Watch that one big hill just a few miles north of Chappell Hill on FM 1155. It’s not called “Chappell Hill” for nothing. Eat outside at Bever’s after the ride (corner of Providence and FM 1155), one block from the start.
Killer Hill Time Trial Series
Tyler Bicycle Club
It is time for the Killer Hill TT Series. Again this year, we will be giving our riders a choice of one lap, 13 miles, or two laps, 26 miles. We will have a volunteer supported “feed zone†for those who ride two laps. The dates will be July 17th, 31st, August 14th and August 28th. We will be giving away a brand new carbon wheelset, sponsored by the TBC, ETT and Simpson’s Adventure Sports, to one lucky participant. You must ride in three of the four events to qualify for the drawing. See you on the 17th!
