Bike Friendly Oak Cliff
Oak Cliff Film Festival invite you to the first ever Pola-Ride Collaboration
Saturday, June 21
Inspired by Eadweard Muybridge’s galloping-horse photo studies, this modern-day ride is geared to gather a stop-motion historical view of Oak Cliff as seen through the eyes of cyclists.
Two teams, Team Muybridge and Team Lumiere, will each be given a Polaroid camera and a pack of film to capture images that create a narrative of our OC neighborhood. After all eight images are shot, each team will organize them and…

AUSTIN, TEXAS (June 3rd, 2014) — The longest annual charity bicycle ride in the world, the Texas 4000 team, will be rolling through Carthage on Saturday, June 7th, 2014, just 8 days after departing from Austin, Texas on to their final destination of Anchorage, Alaska. While in Carthage, the 2014 Texas 4000 Team will celebrate and share Hope, Knowledge and Charity with friends and family before continuing on their 70-day journey.
Seventy-nine, undergraduate and graduate, students from the University of Texas at Austin brave the rain, sleet, wind, snow, heat and will pedal over 4,500 miles in support of the fight against cancer. Along their journey, riders will volunteer at community events that contribute in the fight against cancer and visit with cancer survivors, patients, caregivers, and family members to make educational presentations about cancer prevention and early detection. They also use this time to offer hope, encouragement and share their personal stories to cancer fighters of all ages and to those who have been affected by the disease. Every encounter is an inspirational story the…
Honey Tour drew record turnout
BRIAN PORTERÂ Â Â Â Â Â www.burlesonstar.net
The Burleson and Johnson County countryside last Saturday was filled with a stream of bright, colorful cyclists jerseys.
While area residents took note of the almost 1,600 participants in the Honey Tour Bike Ride, the visitors from all areas of Texas and beyond also had to opportunity to take in Burleson.
“To develop a local economy, you always want to see visitors in the area,” said Justin Bond, Burleson’s economic development manager. “Cyclists hitting our community in a 24-hour period reach businesses all across the city.â€
Based upon data from 2013, those cyclists aren’t necessarily neighbors and friends from the immediate community.
“Only 13 percent of the riders [in 2013] came from Burleson,” Bond said. “Events that introduce…
Riding a Double Metric Century (Part 1)

Guest poster Don Blount is gearing up for a big, big ride — and he’s using what a lot of us would consider a big ride to prep for it. Here’s his account.
BlountOnBikingMy big midyear ride is The Tour of the California Alps, Death Ride on July 12. It covers 129 miles (208 km) with 15,000 feet (4,572 meters) of climbing over five mountain passes.
I have other things planned after that ride but my preparation has been geared toward the Death Ride.
Intensity, climbing and saddle time are all components of my training. And yes, I used to hate hills but a 30-pound weight loss (13.61 kilograms) and improved fitness changed my attitude toward them. I can proudly say that I am…
Rolling Through Arlington’s Findlay Linear Park Causing Me To Think About The Panther Island Boondoggle
Durango Texas
This morning my refrigerator informed me I was in need of a re-stocking the milk supply.
ALDI is my milk supplier.
I’d not checked in with Arlington’s resident Indian Ghosts for several days, so I decided to do so before going to ALDI to get a couple jugs of processed cow extract.
In the picture you are looking at my handlebars after they’d visited the Indian Ghosts inside…
Bike To Work Day Energizer Station 2014 – Recap and Pics
by Richard Wezensky      www.bikedfw.org
Last Month was the Bike League’s National Bike Month and May 16 was National Bike To Work Day. For the third year, local bike advocacy groups, worked with BikeDFW, DART and NCTCOG to set up bike commuter Energizer Stations throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This year, we were able to set up 9 Stations.
Reports have come back that those stations had great success greeting the many bicycle commuters who came through. This indicates to us that folks around the Dallas area are starting to look at bicycle commuting as an viable form of alternate transportation – which most feel is hard to do in a city built for…
