It’s time for another installment of the I Bike Richardson series, where we put a face on Richardson cyclists. We’d like to introduce Rochelle. She took the time to answer a few questions about biking. Enjoy:

Picked it back up about a year and a half ago.
How often do you ride?
Couple times a week. Mostly leisure, and small errands or visiting friends. I would be open to biking to work but I currently work in grapevine so it’s too far.
What’s your favorite route? …

By Brandon Mulder      www.austinpost.org
Spring has sprung, and April offers cycling activities as numerous as the mosquito hawks whose annual convention is apparently being held here. From the Bicycle Film Festival to boozy social rides, the next few weeks provide ample opportunity to get on that saddle before stupefying heat sets in.

Cycling’s Catching On In Texas, For A Very Texas Reason
by Elise Hu      www.npr.org
For years, cyclists have faced long odds in Texas, where sprawling highways teem with trucks. Dallas was ranked , several years in a row. But in recent years, the two-wheeled form of transportation has begun to gain ground.
It’s no surprise that progressive Austin — where the disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong still lives — has plenty of cyclists.
“It works here,” says cyclist and pedicabbie Austin Matherne. “Also, the way that downtown is set up, all the entertainment districts are so close together that it really is a viable transportation option for us.”
But these days, bicycles are becoming a bigger conversation across the state, as traffic snarls grow worse. The traffic in Dallas, Austin and Houston routinely…
Soldiers support Ride 2 Recovery
Courtney Griffin | Herald staff writer      kdhnews.com
More than 200 injured veterans rode bicycles past III Corps Headquarters last week as part of a 490-mile trip which ended in Arlington on Friday.
Participating in UnitedHealthCares Ride 2 Recovery Texas Challenge, the veterans received a warm welcome from hundreds of active-duty soldiers March 26. Waving flags, high-fiving cyclists and cheering, soldiers lined the streets of post for nearly a mile and a half until riders reached the III Corps building, where they were given an official welcome before they…

Though his life nowadays is more about seeking redemption than world titles, Hamilton will talk about the dark side of cycling; a side littered with red pills, vials, needles and IV’s. In his New York Times bestselling memoir, The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France – Doping, Cover-ups, and Winning at All Costs, Mr. Hamilton takes readers on a journey into the heart of a never before seen world, the stark choices that went along with his decision to compete at a world class level and his complicated relationship with Lance Armstrong. Riding Reveille Peak Ranch
San Angelo Bicycle Association
The weekend of March 21st, 2014 I went along with the San Angelo High School Mountain Bike Team to the 2014 Reveille Peak Ranch Bike Festival in Burnet Texas. I was first to arrive at the campsite and so I proceeded to the registration tent. I met a female rider there, about my age, who was about to pre-ride the trails and invited me along. I geared up and off we went. Instantly I knew, she had way more experienced than I. She told me she was from Grapevine and rides the Grapevine lake trails, including north shore (OUCH)! We rode about 9 miles of the less difficult trails; a sample of what we would be tackling in the morning in the Medio Fondo.
Saturday morning we line up for the Medio Fondo, 15 mile lap. There is about 70 riders but some are riding 2 laps, not this girl though! John Gonzales is at the line with me, we are in the back, ready for a casual ride. We take off and I’m staying close to the…

• 8:00 am : Ride With the Wind This is the one ride you’ll be praying for wind. Meet at 8 a.m. at War Eagles Air Museum to caravan by car to Columbus, N.M. Then bike back the 60 miles, hopefully with a typical westerly spring wind. Bike Club will provide a bike trailer for up to 12 bikes and rest stops on the way back. Riders will need to arrange their own transportation to Columbus (with either a non-rider driving the vehicle back or splitting the driving/riding back with a friend). This is a ride-as-fast-you-can ride — in past years, riders have averaged 20-27 mph, thanks to the wind. Randy Limbird, 328-4110. War Eagles Museum is at the Dona Ana Country Airport at Santa Teresa (Take Airport or Artcraft west from McNutt). If the main gate to the museum is closed, you can loop around inside the airport to get to the museum parking lot.)

Yipes! My Hip Hurts!
Bike Noob
I dunno. I must be getting old. About a month ago, I started to feel it. Whenever I came back from a bike ride, I felt great. I stretched, showered, and changed, then sat down — maybe for a meal, maybe to watch a little TV, maybe to noodle on this blog.
A when I stood up again — Yow! My left hip hurt like a sonuvagun.
It didn’t take long to get ride of the pain. I just walked it off, stepping around the house or outside a bit. But it persisted. Whenever I sat down for any length of time, I could count on the ache — soreness –hurt — when I got up again.
I was at the doctor’s on a routine visit, when I brought it up. “Could be…
