Cyclists conquer 100-mile challenge
HARLINGEN — About the only time Harlingen sees more than 600 bicycle riders starting from the same place is when residents witness the Jalapeño 100.
Bright and early at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, cyclists young and old took off with fervor from the Oil Mill Pavilion off of Fair Park Boulevard. Jalapeño Jack, the Jalapeño 100 mascot, entertained and encouraged the cyclists as they prepped to launch their rides.

The day started out already reasonably warm, meaning that we could begin in shorts and with just a light windbreaker.
