Below the Triple Digit Point
Rolling out the driveway at 1:06 I headed to Huffman on my usual route. This time I wanted to vary the route a little by going north on FM2100 from FM1960 where I stop at the Chevron station. The object was to ride at least 30 miles in my continuing quest for 370 miles this month. I biked 30.81 miles and averaged 15.2 mph. Including today’s miles I now am with 88 miles of that goal. So far this week I biked 95.57 miles and 611 miles year to date.
At the start of the ride the sky was overcast but as I rode east on the FM1960 causeway over Lake Houston I could see the sun shining. By the time I reached that spot the clouds had moved to block the sun. It stayed that way until I was taking a break at the Huffman Chevron. The sun shoved those clouds out of the way and from there to the end of the ride I was in and out of the sun. This is a screen shot from my phone while I was at the Chevron station.
When I got home my weather station showed 76. This string of 70 degree days may have one more left before a cool front moves through Thursday night or Friday morning. Tomorrow there is a 30% chance of precipitation (this has changed from 80% then 50%) so I should get to ride.
While I was biking to the north yesterday the sweeper cleared the gravel from both directions on the causeway over Lake Houston. They even cleaned up the pile on the west side in the west bound shoulder. No more gravel grinding.
This morning I watched live the Prologue of the 2014 Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista del Sol. This is in southern Spain and the weather looked great. My Chromebook was streaming the video from EuroSport. Tomorrow I may use my Chromecast to watch on the big screen TV.
