Happy Noobaversary To Me!
bikenoob.com
This one caught me by surprise. It’s the sixth anniversary of Bike Noob. I hadn’t even thought about the fact that I’ve been writing this blog for six years, until the folks at WordPress sent me a congratulatory message.
How’s the past year been? A mixed bag, I think. I’ve noticed that my posts have not kept to the rigid three-a-week schedule I used to observe, and that I’ve been posting a little less often recently. I think that has to do with a colder-than-usual winter this year, and a marked reduction in miles ridden as a result. It’s hard to keep interested when you find yourself preferring to stay indoors. Now that the weather is…
New Member: Russ Miller
www.neilsondevo.com
We’re glad to welcome Russ Miller to the Neilson Devo team. Russ started riding late last year, and has made great strides already in both fitness and shred! We took him out for his first team ride this weekend to Cypresswood, where he knocked out 15 miles without blinking an eye. Russ has been doing a lot of cardio rides to get in better shape and lose weight, so his fitness has come along nicely but his skills were still a little shaky. He lacked confidence in the corners and needed to learn the fundamentals of handling. After an hour or so of riding and coaching…
The urge to merge
An Old Guy On Two Wheels
Yesterday my inbox filled briefly with breathless announcements about the pending merger between Austin Cycling Association and Bike Austin (formerly League of Bicycling Voters). I expected some discussions on social media but I get the impression of cricket sounds.
Do people care that this is happening? Or was it so expected as to be a blinding flash of the obvious? More important stuff to discuss? Or have I just not allowed enough time for the discussions to develop?
And this deafening silence makes me wonder about the future of the alliance. I support the concept. If Austin is to become a world class bicycle city, it will need an…
