Push the Chill Out of Here
The cold front rolled in Tuesday afternoon before I got to ride so today is the first bike ride since then. From the 30’s and 50’s on Wednesday and Thursday today hit 75 as I rolled out the driveway at 1:07 PM. With the warmer weather I thought other bicyclists would be out but I did not see any.
I varied the route from the usual ride to Huffman going the reverse on some sections and going north on E. Lake Houston Parkway to Smith Road. This replaced the route going south on Fairlake Drive, east on Old Atascocita Road to FM2100. The shade along these roads reminded me of the cold but my dual jerseys kept the chill away. I ended up biking 32.27 miles at a 15.1 mph average speed.
November miles went up to 284 and year to date crossed the 5800 point at 5831. I may hit my goal for the year yet. Links to Garmin Connect and RideWithGPS.com maps and metrics.
Light Friday afternoon traffic accompanied me plus most of the route was on side streets or wide shoulder roads.
Riding today tested the new Gatorskin tires I installed yesterday (Thursday). This was important because I plan on riding the Spirit Ride in Livingston tomorrow (Saturday). The forecast calls for 79 degrees with a 20% chance of rain. Driving to the starting point takes about an hour so I need to leave home around 6:15AM. I am not sure whether to ride 42 or 62 miles. I can delay my decision until the turn on the 42 mile route. Nothing like delaying a decision until the last moment.
