What’s Back There? – September 27th Bike Ride
I got back on my mountain bike today for a ride on the Kingwood Trails. Yesterday I had too many other things happening so no biking. Pushing the start button on the 510 going out of my driveway at 11:32 I rode to Northpark Drive. This would take me to the trails but as I rode I think I felt a couple of rain drops. The clouds darkened some from earlier in the morning and I thought they might be a chance of rain.
On the trails I rode to the south with my destination being close to FM1960 before turning back towards home. The route today ended up 15.82 miles, about 4 miles more than the other two rides this week. As I biked I wondered if maybe tomorrow I try my road bike. The one thing holding me back is no rear view mirror.
Searching online I found a mirror I had not seen before: the Monkey Mirrors. I watched a couple of reviews plus the installation video on the seller’s website. One of the little problems I have with rear view mirrors is getting them to stick on my helmet and not droop. The Monkey Mirror mounting appears to solve this problem. I ordered one with the Texbiker logo (vanity I think) and I hope it arrives early next week. Turning my head to check for traffic is not easy. I am spoiled using a mirror over the years.
No rain during my ride but the clouds stayed in place and the sun was behind them. The temperature decreased from yesterday staying at 86 for the ride. Amongst the trees the wind was not a factor but when I came out of them the east 13.8 mph wind slowed me down some.
Biking helps my left leg but my sit bone area is still sore so I need to remind myself to stand up when a bump comes along.
