Keep the Wheels Turning – July 26th Bike Ride
Some of the clouds were dark as I scanned the sky at the beginning of the ride. I thought maybe rain could be in the area but as I rode the clouds thinned and the dark ones went away. I left home at 10:33 with 88 degrees and 63% humidity and a light 7 mph SSW breeze. It didn’t take long for me to warm up and perspiration start flowing. The general route I had in my mind went south and then east. As I rode I decided to take some different streets in Atascocita to add to the expected distance. The ride ended up at 33.27 miles at 15.5 mph average speed. Some of the route put me in the tree shade since the sun had not reached the high point. The shade was greatly appreciated with the coolness.
The wind provided plenty of resistance when I biked west over Lake Houston out in the open. I thought the west bound traffic would help some but it didn’t. The wind strength seemed to increase when I rode over the places in the causeway where the water passes under. I guess this allows the wind to flow through as well.
Nobody was biking that crossed my path.
July miles increased to 765.92. The week’s miles are 170.49. Year to date I biked 4092 miles.
