Some Scattered Drops – July 7th Bike Ride
My original plan was to bike to the north but as I looked at the weather radar I saw several clumps of rain so I changed my route to the south. Rolling out the driveway at 11:37 the dark clouds hovered to the west and north. I could feel a coolness in the air probably from the rain in the distance and the temperature went down two degrees during my 1:43:06 riding time (89 to 87). No rain came across the route until I started to ride on the W. Lake Houston Parkway bridge over the San Jacinto River. The rain was really a few sprinkles every few seconds and I think I perspired more moisture than I got from the rain. By the time I crossed FM1960 the sprinkles went away. No other rain bothered to come my way.
I did not ride hard today averaging 14.9 mph on the 24.63 mile route. I mainly wanted to get some miles in as an easy day. With today’s ride July mileage moved to 214.87 (for the week as well). Year to date now totals 3540 miles.
No other bicyclists were sighted today. The rain threat may have held them back. Tomorrow includes a 50% chance of rain.
