Back on My Road Bike – February 19th
Nothing wrong riding my mountain bike but today I had to ride my road bike. I enjoy going further faster. The ride started at 1:47 PM and my route went south through Walden before heading over to Huffman. The clear blue sky was a relief after yesterday’s rain. My weather station showed 69 when I started and moved up to 71 by the time I finished at 3:59. To tell the truth it did not feel that warm outside. The 10 mph east wind cut through my windbreaker every time I rode through some shade or into the wind. Fortunately my choice of clothing was right: shorts, leg warmers, short sleeve and long sleeve jerseys with the windbreaker jacket.
This route was 30.31 miles long and I did manage to average 15.0 mph. Today was the ninth riding day for February. My month to date miles total 212.45 so I have 157 to ride to get to my 369 mile goal. With 9 days to go this is doable if the weather will cooperate a little. This week looks iffy with 50% rain forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. Friday and Saturday look promising though with clear skies and 68 degrees.
While I rode east on Old Atascocita Road I looked up to see another riding going west past me. That was the only other bicyclist to cross my path today. My last ride was on February 15th.
