A tragedy happened last week to a fellow rider. While it happened on the roads and not a trail, it is a stark reminder of why we all need to be careful and help others in need.
Two riders were on Parmer, on the shoulder, when a car that was trying to avoid a cardboard box in their lane, jumped onto the shoulder, hitting both riders.
According to some reports, the car was going in excess of 80MPH, which is well over the speed limit, and the driver chose to avoid the obstacle without checking to see if the shoulder was clear. That put both of the bikers in the hospital and one still to this day is not conscious and is suffering from a variety of critical injuries. She is in critical and life threaten condition, and still has not…

Beneath his plastic helmet, Jesus Moreno wore a big grin as he boarded one of 575 bikes made in China and sent to his elementary school to help make a merry Christmas and improve grades.
“I never had a bike before,” said Jesus, 11.
Jesus and his fellow Mary J. Scroggins Elementary School pupils, pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade, were among 10,000 students from at- or below-poverty level homes within eight counties in the Houston area, Texas, to receive new bicycles on Saturday from Elves and More.
