Beating the Cold Front – December 7th Bike Ride
The road bike was called on again for today’s ride to Community Drive and then Valley Ranch. This northerly route was 28.82 miles long at a 15.3 mph average speed, 22.2 mph top speed and 79.2 RPM average cadence. After riding my mountain bike yesterday the road bike felt light and easy to get up to speed. No knobby tire buzz either. Riding time came in at 1:53:00 plus 10:03 stop time. Mileage standings after the ride: 69.57 this week, 127.47 for December and 6404.62 YTD.
With the projected cold front arriving late Sunday or early Monday I need to get some riding time in to offset the days of cold. So far I see Monday’s high at 49 degrees. Contrast that to today’s range of 79 (start) to 77 (finish) temperature. I would prefer fewer clouds today but it was warm enough that a short sleeve jersey kept me just right. I wore a pair of Bellweather Forma shorts for the second time. These fit snug and the seat pad is different from what I normally wear but I do like them. Just in case I do like them I bought two pair on sale. December is a good time to buy summer bike gear.
