Second Day in the Rain – September 13th Bike Ride
When I left home at 10:04 AM for the ride the radar looked good. What rain clouds that showed up on the radar were south and southwest of Houston. I figured if they moved in my direction I ought to beat them home. Well I almost made it again but not quite. Up to the 23 mile point no rain fell but as I rode through Kingwood Place headed to US59 at Kingwood Drive the drizzle changed to light rain. I stopped for about 20 minutes at the underpass waiting for the rain to move on. It never completely stopped but I thought since I was soaked from sweat what would some rain do. The 79 degree temperature kept the rain from being cold.
As I rode away from the underpass and got on Loop 494 the pavement showed no signs of rain. It stayed like that until I got to Woodland Hills Drive and the light rain started up again and stayed with me all the way home for about 2.5 miles. This time I did not forget to start the timer on the Garmin Edge 500 since I never turned it off at the underpass.
I rode 30.88 miles today at 15.2 mph average speed, 26.8 mph max speed and 78.3 RPM average cadence. Riding time was 2:02:14 and 36:30 time stopped. Most of the time stopped was waiting on the rain to move on. So far this I biked 97.34 miles this week, 244.07 miles in September and 4961.34 miles YTD. If the rain stays away I should hit 5000 miles this week.
