My Mt. Bonnell Cycling Adventure….Thanks Toyota
by Darryl         lovingthebike.com
I’m always up for something new and exciting, so when I heard about the Toyota RAV4 Adventure Club event going on at MapMyFitness I decided to take part in it.
There is a contest component to this event, and they are giving away a Tom Tom Go Live to help you navigate your future wild adventures, but I was more interested in making this a chance to try out something different.
The idea behind this contest event is to get people creating new routes in their area (either bike, hike, walk, or run routes) and then sharing them with everyone in the Toyota Group within MapMyFitness. …
Record Year for Educational Materials
by Jack Sanford         BikeTexas.org
Program (PI&E), which encourages schoolchildren to walk or bike to school, has finished a record-setting school year. The program is part of the educational arm of Safe Routes to School (SRTS) and distributes educational materials about cycling and walking to schools, community groups, and events that target children from pre-K to sixth grade. The program usually distributes 15,000 to 35,000 materials per month.
During the 2011-2012 school year, the program had two banner months: In October, we distributed 84,534 pieces, and in May, we distributed 81,998, both more than double the amount we send in a normal…

Rain Repellant
by Steve AÂ Â Â Â Â Â DFW Point-to-Point
This week has been a bit odder than usual for July in North Texas. Rain has been in the forecast. I imagine that the rain forecast has partly been prompted by my working on our sprinkler system. While I haven’t washed any of the family cars, that might clinch the deal.
However, I’ve been employing some rain repellant on my daily commute.
A while back, I took a cue from one of my motoring coworkers and stashed some rain gear at work. Since then, I’ve been trying to order up an improved rain jacket, but the outfit, “Department of Goods†via Amazon has pooped…

Bike MS Training Update #9: Riding from Texas to Iowa
by Laura         lauramakes.com
That’s right, I rode to Iowa. Ok, I rode in a car from Texas to Iowa, but I did take my bike with me. My husband and I traveled up there to his family’s farm to celebrate his parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. The farm is just outside of Northwood, Iowa, a few miles south of the Minnesota border. While not all of Iowa is flat, north central Iowa is so I was excited to pack up my bike into the trunk of our car to take…
