Tire choice for Mineral Wells trailway
by cuda2k         www.bikeforums.net
Planning to ride the full length (both ways) Mineral Wells trail way in a few weeks on my Schwinn Crosscut. Wide 700c rims, drop bars, no suspension. It’s currently equipped with semi-slick 38mm city/street tires. I also have a pair of 33mm cyclocross tires with a low pyramid tread in the middle with knobs along the outside. So, for those who have ridden parts of the trailway, which would you take?

CANYON, Texas (AP) — Former President George W. Bush is hosting a 100-kilometer mountain bike ride in the Panhandle’s Palo Duro Canyon State Park for military members wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The three-day ride begins Thursday. This is the second year for Bush to host the Warrior 100K. Last year, the ride was held in the Big Bend region of West Texas.
In a statement, Bush says the ride is a reminder of the “unbelievable courage, skill and sacrifice of those who…

By Kelley Chambers         www.scntx.com
Plano resident Natalie Matthews has a secret weapon for conquering a 150-mile bike tour: a simple bandana.
But the cloth does more than just keep her head and neck cool. Tied to her handle bars, it symbolizes the reason why she and her husband, Chris, take this journey every…
Iraq vet battling PTSD pedals his way to recovery
By Matthew Hansen      WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER
Marine Sgt. David Wright of Omaha will climb on his mountain bike today in northern Texas, take a couple of deep breaths to calm his nerves, and begin to pedal through the second-largest canyon in the United States.
He’ll be pedaling away from a past of daily roadside bombs in Fallujah and then the daily drinking binges to numb the panic attacks and the flashbacks.
He’ll be pedaling alongside former President George W. Bush, who was Wright’s commander in chief during two tours of duty in Iraq. …

Finishing with his legs cut and scraped, former President George W. Bush led more than 70 riders through a grueling first leg of the Bush Center Warrior 100K bike ride Thursday in a steamy Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

Joe Martin Stage Race Hill TT
by Ken         Texas Racing Life
Greeting from Fayetteville, Arkansas! Bill and I are here representing the Shama Race Team at one of the biggest races in the country. We are racing the Elite category and having a blast getting our feet wet in big stage racing.
The Joe Martin Stage Race consists of four days of racing: an uphill TT, a 110 mile road race, and 90 mile road race, and a downtown crit. We knew the competition would be extremely good, and therefore didn’t know exactly what…
The Matrix Challenge
Matti von Kessing
This past weekend, I reluctantly made the decision to venture outside of my comfort zone to race an extremely technical crit. JT was able to talk me into making the trip to Dallas to race two days of the Matrix Challenge. The importance he placed on the race didn’t help ease the apprehension that I felt about the course: eight turns in less than a mile; the antithesis of my race of choice. But I suppose one can’t improve if he or she don’t practice. In that line…
