Continuous Aerobic Exercise Gets Rid of Belly Fat

A review of 35 studies shows that continuous aerobic exercise is far more effective that lifting weights in reducing belly fat (Obesity Reviews, January, 2012;13(1):68-91).
HIGH INSULIN LEVELS CAUSE BELLY FAT: Having abdominal obesity and small buttocks means you have high blood sugar and insulin levels, and are at high risk for diabetes and a heart attack. Insulin causes fat to be deposited in the belly and around organs. If you have small buttocks, that increases risk for diabetes and high insulin levels even more because insulin causes fat to be deposited selectively in your belly.
DIABETES MEANS THAT BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS RISE TOO HIGH. This causes sugar to stick to the outside surface of cells. Once there, sugar can never get off. Eventually it is converted to sorbitol which destroys the cell to cause all the side effects of diabetes: blindness, deafness, dementia, heart attacks, strokes, impotence, cancers and so forth. …

We toured the Crow Collection of Asian Art, then had lunch at the many food trucks nearby. Hint – the green tea with honey from the Korean BBQ place is awesome. Then we crawled through the district, took some photos at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center and ended the day touring the Nasher Sculpture Center.
The weather was perfect and it was nice spending time with old friends and making ones. We had folks attend from all over including far north Dallas, Plano, Deep Ellum, and even Wiley (Kris #2) join us. I’ll be planning another Arts District event, one that will include a formal route and ride and that happens on a weekend so that…

Cycling City: Holland Racing Gets the Nod For Club of the Year

Austin is again being nationally recognized as a cycling city with USA Cycling’s recently announced list of the 2011 Clubs of the Year, with Holland Racing taking the honors.
Three separate tiered awards were given out, all based on number of members. Holland won the Division III Overall Club Award for groups of less than 30 members. The other winners were Full Spectrum Racing from Fayetteville, North Carolina (30-75 members tier) and the Matrix Cycling Club (75+) in Dallas, giving Texas two of the three recipients. …
