More MTB Trail Riding Today – November 9th
After more than 2.5″ of rain yesterday the cool front has moved in. I was thinking of riding some today in the dirt but the rain changed my mind. I stuck to the greenbelt trails which are mostly concrete with some asphalt stretches in the older sections. With the rain there were places where the trails were covered with runoff debris so I did end up riding in some dirt/mud. The skies are now a clear blue and the temperature has dropped from yesterday. During the night it got down to 54 which is not that bad (still below my wimpy cutoff of 60 degrees) and it took most of the morning to get above 60. It was 67 when I started and 66 at the finish. In the woods the wind was not that bad at 2.7 mph and gusts of 7.6 mph. The airport was showing 13 mph wind with 17 mph gusts. So the 67 degrees felt cooler than it was.
I was dressed for the weather with a long sleeve jersey, windbreaker jacket and leg warmers. No need for full finger gloves though. I might need them tomorrow though since it supposed to be cooler.
There was a purpose for today’s ride beyond just turning some pedals. I wanted to stop at Radio Shack to pickup a microSD card to put Android Honeycomb on my Barnes & Noble Color Nook. I am running CyanagenMod 7 on it and I want to try moving to a new operating system. The Nook Color is a fabulous 7″ tablet with the CyanagenMod 7. I accomplished that so now I have to load the software on the microSD card and give it a try.
The 13.92 miles today were a little shorter than I would have wanted but time was shorter due to the later start. I prefer to get over 15 miles but I have been able to ride each day so far. November miles are creeping up to 150.03 and year to date I am at 5133.53 miles. Average speed today dropped down to 11.9 mph but the max speed was a nice 22.7 mph. Average cadence was 75.8 RPM.
I took these two pictures with my LG Optimus V phone and they show why I like to live in Kingwood.
