Boy did I miss my estimate on distance – May 23rd Bike Ride
Boy did I miss my estimate on distance for this evening’s ride. I wanted to go on a different route somewhat from my usual weekday evening one so I thought if I just straightened it out some that the distance would be about the same. I was wrong. I ended up riding 32.21 miles which is one of the longer rides I have ridden starting at the time I did. In the past I rode FM1960 east to the Liberty County line and it was about 27 miles. I decided to add some extra distance but it was much more than I estimated. The later sunset helped but it was getting dark when I got back home. At the beginning of the ride the wind was whipping at 18 mph from the south with 26 mph gusts. This made the start of the ride tough so my average speed was slow until I got heading east. If the wind had not been so strong I could made better time early in the ride. Mostly cloudy skies and mid-80’s temperature helped keep the heat at bay along with the wind. Humidity was below 50% too.
Average speed was 15.1 mph. Average cadence was 79.6 rpm. Maximum speed was only 20.9; probably because of the wind.
May mileage update:
- month to date miles 502.04
- year to date miles 2004.71
