November 18th Bike Ride – It Didn’t Matter…
It didn’t matter that the temperature was 57 degrees (3 degrees below my normal cutoff to ride) when I left for my evening bike ride. I got the new Motobecane 700HT mountain bike yesterday and I wanted to take a test ride to see what I needed to adjust. the first thing I noticed was the position of the Garmin 305 Edge. The angle of the stem made the Garmin almost vertical which meant I could not see the information even when I stopped and looked closely. I should have thought of this when I put the bracket on last night. But I was moving along putting everything together. The seat position needs to be fine tuned but surprisingly the stock seat that came with the bike is rather comfortable. It is a WTB model. The knobby tires were quieter than I thought they would be so I will keep them for now. Disk brakes are new to me so some of the differences are being discovered. One is the disk rubs the caliper slightly when I turn a corner. I think this is from the rim and hub movement caused by the flexing. Standing still and spinning the rims the disks do not touch nor make a noise. The brakes are Avid ones.
So Saturday will be adjustment day for a few items. The weather Saturday though points to road bike riding, not MTB riding except maybe a test run to verify my changes.
Today’s ride information:
- November miles 148.31
- YTD miles 4751.28 (getting closer to my 5,000 goal, 249 to go)
