Brief Description
Toss on your antlers or Santa Hats and join BCO on a fun ride around town just in time for the Holidays! Bring your backpack to carry what you purchase, and let’s shop the markets on our bikes! We meet for coffee and then take an easy tour of 3 to 5 markets around the city. We use side streets, trails and residential roads for this approximately 12 – 15 mile, 3 hour ride including generous stops.
Additional Information
Not only will you learn the markets and get some exercise, you’ll see beautiful areas you never knew existed in Houston and take home a bounty of beautiful produce, breads, sauces and jams! If you’d like to join us but don’t own a bike, West End Bicycles rents bikes for $25. RSVP 713-524-3567 or http://www.BayouCityOutdoors.com
Wear your Santa hats or antlers (on top of your helmet of course) we’re hitting the markets on a holiday tour…
NEW route and we have added the Highland Village market. We are meeting at Onion Creek. If you want to hang out and enjoy a coffee before the ride be there by 8:00, we will leave at 8:30. If you haven’t used your bike in awhile it is a good idea to check your tires (air them up the night before to be sure they don’t have a leak) and check your brakes. Stopping is always a good option 🙂
Please park on the street around Onion Creek so we do not take all their parking. Also, please watch for NO PARKING signs…
We have several Farmer Markets right here in the middle of the city, which bring in local organic produce every Saturday. Bring your backpack to carry what you purchase, and let”s shop the markets on our bikes! We meet for coffee and then take an easy tour of 3 markets around the city.
We use side streets, trails and residential roads for this approximately 15 mile, 3.5 hour ride including generous stops. This can be a cold ride during the winter in Houston so please make sure you are wearing layers and drink plenty of fluids. Bike helmets are required, and an extra pack to carry you purchases and a hat is a good idea. Please ensure your bike has air in the tires and is in good mechanical order before the ride so the rest of the group is not delayed, we will have a bike pump on hand.
