The Raleigh M800 mountain bike was called into duty for this evening’s ride. Fall is in the air. Thanks to slow traffic on the drive home I got a later start than usual which combined with the 7:11 PM sunset made for the first ride in the dark since early spring. The temperature was 72 degrees but it felt like it was in the 60’s. I wore a short sleeve jersey but should have worn a long sleeve one. Wind was not more than 7 mph but adding in the riding speed the wind chill was close to my wimpy limit. Clear skies are the forecast for the next several days so the temperature will be chilly so I will need to dress better. With the sunset getting closer to the time I get home from work the Raleigh M800 will be the bike for the evening rides for the rest of the year. The headlight and taillights were necessary for the ride back home. I made it about half way before I had to turn them on.
Today’s ride statistics:
- miles 15.81
- riding time 1:14;41
- average pace 4;43 min/mile (the gearing on the MTB is much lower)

- max speed 18.5 mph
- no cadence sensor on the Raleigh M800
- climb 56 ft., descend 60 ft., max elevation 80 ft.
- September miles 266.06
- YTD miles 3966.02
