Collin Classic – McKinney, TX
The 18th Collin Classic is a rural bicycle rally that will start and finish at the McKinney North High School on Saturday, June 13, 2009. The ride begins at 8:00am.
Offering routes of 4, 15, 22, 34, 47 and 55 miles, this event will attract families, weekend warriors and avid cyclists to celebrate life in a day filled with fun.
Our 4 mile route is a flat loop, designed for the family with kids who are not ready for an open road ride – but want to see what a big bike rally is all about. All other routes will cross over US75 and ride out into the countryside of Northeastern Collin County.
For those of you who plan to ride a mountain bike, we have a 15 mile route that will travel those same roads, but it will take an early turn for a short cut that takes a flat route for several miles before rejoining the other routes.
Our 22, 34, 47 and 55 mile routes were used in 2008 to rave reviews. While most of our routes have been repaved since our last event, the surface is better than the chip seal pavement associated with the roads in Northwestern Collin County. We even found miles of new asphalt. Worried about missing out on the big hill at the finish of our old routes? Not to worry. We have plenty of rolling hills on our routes that will provide plenty of challenge.
